On d\u00e9signe sous le terme de Macaron\u00e9sie, un ensemble g\u00e9ographique regroupant les archipels des Canaries, de Mad\u00e8re, des A\u00e7ores et du Cap-Vert, situ\u00e9s <\/span><\/span>sur la c\u00f4te atlantique de l’Afrique, <\/span><\/span>au large de la Mauritanie et du S\u00e9n\u00e9gal<\/span><\/span>. Deux palmiers du genre Phoenix ont \u00e9t\u00e9 recens\u00e9s dans cette r\u00e9gion, Phoenix canariensis et Phoenix atlantica.<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

SITUATION <\/strong>L’archipel des Canaries se compose de 7 \u00eeles volcaniques, situ\u00e9es au large des c\u00f4tes de la Mauritanie. Leur territoire fait partie de l’Espagne.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
DIVERSITE <\/strong>Phoenix canariensis est un palmier originaire de l’archipel des Canaries. Depuis un plus d’un si\u00e8cle, il a \u00e9t\u00e9 diffus\u00e9 dans de nombreuses r\u00e9gions, comme arbre d’ornement. Cette diaspora (impossible \u00e0 chiffrer) doit \u00e0 pr\u00e9sent largement d\u00e9passer en nombre la population originelle. Elle repose toutefois sur une base g\u00e9n\u00e9tique tr\u00e8s r\u00e9duite. Les populations pr\u00e9sentes dans l’archipel offrent par contre une grande diversit\u00e9 g\u00e9n\u00e9tique, en cours d’\u00e9tudes en collaboration avec l’Universit\u00e9 de Gran-Canaria.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
CONSERVATION <\/strong>La survie de Phoenix canariensis est actuellement menac\u00e9e par deux fl\u00e9aux, l’hybridation avec Phoenix dactylifera, introduit massivement dans l’archipel ces derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es, et son extr\u00eame sensibilit\u00e9 au ravageur du palmier, Rhynchophorus ferrugineus. Ces deux menaces font l’objet de recherches en cours dans le cadre du r\u00e9seau Riviera Gardens (voir \u00e0 ce propos notre page intitul\u00e9e Menaces). <\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

SITUATION <\/strong>Les \u00eeles du Cap-vert constituent un \u00e9tat ind\u00e9pendant. D’origine volcanique, elles <\/span><\/span>se divisent en deux archipels, avec au sud les \u00eeles de Sotavento (Brava, Fogo, Santiago et Maio) et au nord les \u00eeles de Barlavento (Boa Vista, Sal, S\u00e3o Nicolau, Santa Luzia, S\u00e3o Vicente et Santo Ant\u00e3o).<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
DIVERSITE <\/span><\/strong>Phoenix atlantica, appel\u00e9 aussi Tamareira, est un palmier end\u00e9mique des \u00eeles du Cap-Vert. Il a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9couvert\u00a0 par Auguste Chevalier en 1935. P. dactylifera <\/em>\u00a0et P. canariensis <\/em>ont aussi \u00e9t\u00e9 recens\u00e9s dans les \u00eeles du Cap-Vert. <\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
